We recently undertook a review of the health benefits for a longstanding client who had merged with a competitor. The client had increased headcount from 390 to 650 employees. We where tasked with harmonising the health benefits of the two companies ensuring cover remained attractive to both sets of employees and also cost effective based on the requirements outlined by the company. Combined premiums based on current benefit offering was £450K.
Having reviewed the current offerings of both companies, we established significant differences in benefit offerings and potential gaps in cover based on the clients requirements. This included one set of employees having a policy excess and the other set with no policy excess. We then approached the market for options and negotiated with providers to secure competitive terms. We provided a full report and options to the client enclosing our recommendation which was accepted. Our recommendation was to move to a healthcare trust which provided a harmonised set of benefits for all members. We also implemented a standalone health cash plan which was promoted by the employer as an additional benefit to the employees who now had an excess.
The cash plan also served to address some areas additional cover areas including the employers duty of care obligations as it included an employee assistance programme, an area which was previously identified by us as an employee absence risk. The review resulted in a premium saving of £50K (approximately 12%) with no erosion of benefits and the implementation of additional health benefits. CS Financial Solutions managed the transition process for the client to ensure the switch was seamless and supported the communication of the new benefits to employees. We regularly monitor the benefits in place to ensure they remain suitable and competitive in the market.
An intergovernmental agency client employing individuals from a range of countries experienced a claim issue with a key member of staff on their health insurance scheme. The client made us aware of the issue and in the first instance we immediately investigated with the insurer.
Having determined that the insurer was refusing a claim due to the member not following standard claims procedure and in addition the members assistant was attempting to liaise with the insurer on behalf of the member which was causing added complications, we liaised with the client and insurer to determine the eligibility of the claim and sought recognition for the PA to handle claims on behalf of the member. With our assistance the insurer settled the claim and amended their requirements so that the member PA was able to liaise with the insurer for future claims

We streamlined cover using Multi National Pooling and taking account of global mobility of the clients employees who travel around the world extensively, we were able to set up International travel insurance. We have harmonised Private Medical Insurance benefits across the group’s businesses improving overall level of cover for members, improved administration for the group and a substantial premium saving.
